Return to the shop

Hullo there…

As this is my first post I thought that I ought to let you know a bit about myself.

Many years ago my sister & I were given our first house, a lundy which I loved.   I think it came from Harrods.   This house had years of love (and abuse) before it finally ended up on the bonfire (a mouse had made it’s home in it while it was in the loft).    By then I had moved on,   I had discovered 1:12 scale while at college – a small shop in a local arcade (now long gone).   I was enchanted by all the things that I found could be bought for a dolls house.   Things that I could only dream of, as I lived on limited funds.

Then (some time later) I decided to get a house, the classic.   That was my first 1:12 property.   I decorated it with the help of my sister, and began to get furniture one room at a time.   Furniture for this house has gone through phases.   I would buy something thinking that would be perfect, then change my mind… also I decided on buying a second set of furnishings so that the house could be used (without fear on my part) by visiting children.   By the time that I moved  on to the next house the classic had 3 sets of furniture.

These days I have a collection of houses, some completed (although is a house ever complete?), some being decorated or renovated (the classic is about to have a re-vamp), and some still in their boxes.   Amongst these is the summer house waiting for inspiration to strike.   I have a rough idea what I want to do with this, but nothing solid as of yet…   When I know what it is that I am doing, I’ll let you know … or maybe I’ll wait till the end of august on that:-)

At the moment my plans are centred around the Surrey Artists Open Studio scheme.   This year I am planning a workshop on dolls house foods.   More on that nearer the time.

When I can work out how I will add some pics.
