Bampas’ Shed

This property was inspired by my grandfather, a man I always knew as Bampa.   It is the shed he never had in life.   A place for reflection and his passions, down at the bottom of the garden, surrounded by vegetable patch, borders, and fowl (I know, chickens again .)

At the far end of the shed is a wall cabinet full of hand made 1:144 furniture, pieces that relate to memories of my grandfather. The train is symbolic of the 1:3 scale Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch railway. The beds are symbolic of a pair of 4 posters that Bampa made for me & my sister one christmas… This cabinet has been registered as a dolls house and has it’s deeds.

This is one of the images that I used on the walls of the shed. It is a bear by Mister Bear called Hero, but I call him Bampas’ bear. He wears the ww1 cloathing of a sergeant major of the 2nd Battalion of the Devonshire Regiment. On the walls around this are other images and papers relating to his time in the regiment during ww1 & ww2 from the battle of Bois des Buttes to Malta and beyond.
