Basement or first floor?
Posted on June 13th, 2010 by MouseToday started with drilling the holes and “scratching” new dents for the wires.
And then the fun began:
1. the hallway floor: a bamboo place mat from a nick-nack-shop – for only 1,50€ ![]()
2. the living room floor: my first ever try with veneer, Reading a little bit about how-to-do it at one of my magazines I had an idea. Spreading the wood glue and press the veneer evenly to the bottom. (The board for next floor comes in handy for that
) After drying for a looong time just cutting the edges.
Doesn’t look so bad if I have to say so myself
Living room wall papering for painting and while waiting that the paper dries up choosing the color. I made sample stripes of all colors I have so I could hold them next to each other and to the floor to see which looks best.
I decided on “bamboo-yellow” (don’t know where this name comes from, doesn’t look the slightest yellow
) and chocolate-brown to get a nice contrast in the room as well as having the “color” of the veneer reflected.
For the hallway I changed my original plan. I wanted the veneer for the floor but after seeing the nice pattern in it decided to use it as wall papering. Now the back-, front (door) and side (to living room) wall are covered with it. Because the veneer was very billowy (Is that the right translation? It had no bumps but was like paper after getting wet and drying uneven) I had to press it real good and for a looong time after gluing it to the wall. The outside wall is in caramel (chocolate brown and caramel: sound like a sweet tooth to me. Okay I confess: I’m a chocoholic
)

where did you buy your twisty stairs?:D
They come with the “Lake View”- house from DHE. Had a look for spiral stairs before and found only metallic ones and a D-I-Y-instruction
Sorry for not answering before.
